In the Sessions
First meeting:
At the first meeting I will ask some questions about you in order to get an initial idea of what is going on for you at the moment and, importantly what you are hoping to gain from coming to therapy. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the process of therapy, and to find out whether this feels a safe and comfortable space to work together. This initial session lasts for up to 75 minutes.
Subsequent sessions:
Following the initial assessment, all sessions are 50 minutes in length. What happens in the session depends on you and the type of therapy we are working with, but will usually include a reflection on the week since we last met, a review of progress so far, and how your recent experience links with the therapeutic approach we have chosen. The therapy room offers a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. While therapy is designed to be completely supportive, you can also expect to find the experience challenging.
Consulting Room
I meet with clients in my consulting room at my home, which is quiet, private and safe.
Privacy and confidentiality are extremely important to all my clients. As there is no provision for waiting, and in order that clients may feel assured that their privacy will be respected, you are asked to arrive promptly for your appointment.
Online (Remote) and Telephone Therapy
If it is difficult for you to get to me in person, I can offer remote therapy, either via the face-time platform, Zoom, or by telephone. Remote therapy means that I can work with you to address your problem, however, when possible, the first session (assessment) is best done face to face. This allows me to get a fuller picture of your difficulties and of the person you are, and makes future remote sessions more productive.
